About Gaven

Gaven is a master programmer, systems architect, and open-source author with over 30 years of hands-on software development and Linux systems administration experience (since 1994). Having built codebases across multiple eras of the web, he balances a deep understanding of low-level systems architecture with rapid application design using modern, type-safe full-stack environments.

Growing up in South Africa, Gaven was active in the early local tech scene during the BBS, OS/2, and early dial-up internet days. He later moved to Israel, graduating in 2008 with a BA in Business Administration from Reichman University (formerly IDC Herzliya).

Key Technical Milestones

  • Open-Source Contributions: Creator and maintainer of several popular NPM modules, including yahoo-finance2, fetch-mock-cache, and discourse2.
  • Systems Administration: Managing, provisioning, and securing virtualized clusters using Xen, KVM, LVM, and Linux networking protocols.
  • BBS & Internet Pioneer: Started programming during the early 1990s BBS era. Webmaster since the CGI/HTML-only web, developing custom IRC servers and early eggdrop scripting engines.
  • Applied AI Tooling: Successfully designed and launched the kiri.art generative AI showcase, scaling server image-generation queues for over 50,000 users.
